Global Hubs Salon Series

Global Hubs are Cornell's new collaborative centers of engagement around the world. Join us in spring 2022 for eight interdisciplinary Global Hubs salons.

Each event in the series focuses on a research theme representing a cross-college strength at Cornell and our Global Hubs partners. The salons feature Cornell faculty hosts in conversation with faculty representing Global Hub institutions.

The 75-minute salons provide initial opportunities for faculty to get to know each other and their institutions—with the goal of identifying shared interests and brainstorming new directions for our diverse international collaborations. Select salon topics will become the basis for future Cornell Global Grand Challenges.

Organized by the Einaudi Center, the salon series is part of the Global Hubs initiative led by Global Cornell.

Global Hubs: Seeding Faculty Research

Global Cornell is currently working with Hubs partners to develop joint seed funds and faculty exchanges to support working groups and research projects.

Global Grand Challenges

Following this salon series, we will select up to three salon themes to be Cornell's next Global Grand Challenges. Global Grand Challenges support cutting-edge research, teaching, and engagement on key themes of worldwide importance and nurture collaborations across academic disciplines and with external partners.

Learn about Migrations: A Global Grand Challenge, launched in fall 2019.

About Global Hubs

Global Hubs bring together faculty, students, alumni, public and private sector entities, and local communities for broad-reaching partnerships that combine research, learning, and engagement. Each Global Hub will be unique, but they will all be grounded in partnerships with strong, local universities and based on the principle of mutual benefit and exchange.
