The Institute for European Studies (IES) promotes learning and teaching about European languages and cultures by placing Europe in a global context and contributing to the training of a new generation of global citizens. IES was among the first major university institutes to combine Eastern and Western European studies. Today we update this perspective by examining European countries as places of arrival and departure in multiple migration paths. The undergraduate minor in European Studies is administered by IES.
