Pedro Erber

Pedro Erber is an Associate Professor at the School of International Liberal Arts and the Graduate School of International Culture and Communication Studies, Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan. He is also associate editor of the journal ARTMargins. He specializes in Brazilian literature, intellectual history, and visual culture.

He is the author of Política e Verdade no Pensamento de Martin Heidegger (2003) and Breaching the Frame: The Rise of Contemporary Art in Brazil and Japan (2015). His research interests include articulations of art, politics, and economics; peripheral modernisms; the philosophy of the Kyoto School; and Lusophone literature and culture. 

He holds a PhD from Cornell University, MA from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and BA from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He was an associate professor in the Department of Romance Studies at Cornell, and directed the East Asia Program in 2018-19.
