Allen R. Carlson

Allen R. Carlson is an associate professor of government. He earned his PhD from Yale University’s Department of Political Science. His undergraduate degree is from Colby College.

He is a core faculty member of the East Asia Program and affiliated with the South Asia Program and Comparative Muslim Societies Program.

Carlson is the Brittany and Adam J. Levinson China and Asia-Pacific Studies (CAPS) program director. He is currently working on a project exploring the issue of nontraditional security in China’s emerging relationship with the rest of the international system.

Geographic Research Area: Tibet, China

Teaching/Research Interests: Chinese Nationalism, Chinese Foreign Policy, Asian Security
