History

Founded in 1970 as the Peace Studies Program, the program was renamed the Judith Reppy Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies at the time of its 40th-anniversary celebration in 2010.  A slideshow presented at the anniversary dinner included photographs from the program's first 40 years.

In this CAPE oral history project conversation with Matthew Evangelista, Judith Reppy describes the early history of the program and the challenges it faced in defining its place at Cornell during the contentious years of the early 1970s, as well as later program developments.
