When a child walks into your classroomHe does not come alone.
He brings with him his family, his
individual heritage, his home.
He brings what was-or was not-
Set before him at breakfast this morning.
He brings his past successes and failures.
And all the hopes that died a-burning.
He brings all the learning he has acquired
And the misinformation he picked off along the way.
He brings his anger, his apathy,
His fear, his sadness and his hope for this day.
When he walks into yoour classroom
you have the power to make his future bright,
He comes with weaknesses--and dreams of strength,
He comes with shadows and dreams of light.
When a child walks into your classroom,
He does not come alone,
When he leaves you at the end of the day,
How will you send him home?
