Classroom Activities

The activities in this section were put together by teachers in and around the upstate New York region who found the Cambodia: A Classroom Study resource helpful in the teaching of this Southeast Asian country. If you would like to submit an activity that you have written and used in your own classroom, you can email Penny Dietrich at Cornell's Outreach Center at seap-out@cornell.edu for more information.

Included along with these activities are some tips that teachers may find helpful in their classrooms concerning students of different cultures. The first section concerns some common difficulties facing Refugee Children both inside and out of the classroom. The second section lists important Guidelines for Teachers Who Work with Children from Different Cultures. And, finally, we have included a poem, entitled "He Does not Come Alone" that reflects the impact that teachers have on not only the lives of their students but ultimately on societal perspectives. We have also included a section with further references.
