Academics

The program welcomes participation in our events and activities. Although we do not admit students to the university or offer a degree, the program encourages students and faculty to participate in a number of activities that promote interdisciplinary interaction and provide ways for ideas to be explored and shared.

Peace Studies Events

Click here to see our calendar of events.
Our weekly Peace Studies Program seminar is the central activity of the program, bringing together interested faculty and students from all parts of the university. Speakers are Cornell faculty or invited guests from other universities, government agencies, or organizations. The weekly seminars, held at noon on Thursdays, are open to anyone in the Cornell and local communities. The program also co-sponsors other events and public lectures for a wider Cornell audience.

The program hosts dinner seminars several times during the school year. These graduate-student research seminars are designed to increase interaction between faculty and graduate students and to provide a forum for discussion and criticism of the early results of graduate-student research. These meetings, which typically attract up to 20 participants, have been highly successful in encouraging substantive, cross-disciplinary discussion of work in progress. If you are a graduate student and would like more information on these seminars, please contact the program staff for additional information.

Minor Graduate Field

There is a graduate minor field of Peace Studies and Peace Science, and a minor in peace studies is available to graduate students in any discipline. Masters and Ph.D. programs in peace science are available as a concentration within the graduate field of regional science.
