K-12 Educator Workshop


Area K-12 educators are invited to participate in a teacher training related to "Asia Plural" held in conjunction with NYCAS 2009 on Friday, October 9, 2009.  Designed especially for K-12 teachers, administraters, and other educators interested in Asia,  the training will be hosted by members of Cornell Educational Resources for International Studies (CERIS) outreach team with special involvement by the outreach offices of the East Asia Program, South Asia Program, and the Southeast Asia Program.

The workshop entitled Education in Asia is designed to help educators learn about the many dimensions of education in Asia – both exemplary models and challenges including issues of access, politics, and pedagogy.  The workshop will be structure to give teachers an opportunity to reflect on their own teaching practices while learning about Asia.

Presenter Biographies

Participants in the teacher training workshop must register via the NYCAS 09 registration site.  Educators will also be simultaneously registered for the NYCAS 09 conference. As such, they will have the option to attend Friday evening activities and sessions on Saturday. Participants who would like to receive professional development credit for the workshop and conference should also take the following steps to register through TST-BOCES:
  1. Go to the TST-BOCES website.
  2. Click on the MyLearningPlan link.
  3. Scroll down to the Education in Asia link and click on the title to register.
