Project Title:
Facilitating a Market Analysis and Capacity-Building Training for Agribusinesses in Rwanda
Project Abstract:
Social enterprises strive to help the under-privileged and marginalized classes of society while still earning profits. Social entrepreneurs tend to walk a fine line between social good and the traditional business model that focuses solely on the maximization of profits for its shareholders. This project will focus on further developing a domestic marketing strategy for a Rwandan agribusiness, Ikirezi Natural Products. The project will also include a business development training with a selected group of Rwandan agribusinesses. Ikirezi is the leading producer of essential oils in Rwanda and exports its products internationally. However, it is struggling to increase its sales in the domestic market. The company’s mission is to produce high-quality essential oils and other natural products in partnership with small-scale Rwandan farmers. It maximizes profits for the small-scale farmers and provide them with the means to transform their lives and communities.
