How can I find a real person to talk to about international studies at Cornell?

Our staff is ready and eager to help you with any questions. Start with our main desk at (607) 255-6370. You can also contact us by email at einaudi_center@is.cornell.edu or by fax at (607) 254-5000. We will be happy to put you in touch with those who can best answer your questions.

Where are you located?

The Mario Einaudi Center is located in the center of campus on the first floor of Uris Hall. The Area Studies Programs and Peace Studies are housed on the same floor. Other programs are scattered across the campus. Click here for directions to Uris Hall.

What are your hours?

The Mario Einaudi Center is open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We are closed Memorial Day (last Monday of May), Independence Day (July 4), Labor Day (first Monday of September), Thanksgiving Thursday and Friday (at the end of November), and during the winter holiday week between December 24 and January 1.

About degrees

Can I get a degree in International Relations?

Cornell University does not have a degree program in International Relations. However, the Einaudi Center does offer an undergraduate concentration in International Relations. It is also possible to incorporate International Relations into a graduate degree program in Government, but students must satisfy the requirements for the entire program, not just the IR portion.

What majors and degrees does the Einaudi Center offer in International Studies?

The Mario Einaudi Center does not offer courses or confer degrees. However, Cornell does offer many degree programs with an international component and several concentrations in international studies. We will be happy to discuss these offerings with you or direct you to someone who can

About admissions

How do I go about getting admitted to one of these programs?

Generally, admissions are handled through the central admissions offices on campus. These offices will gladly send you admissions materials and a catalog describing the full range of degree programs at Cornell.

Can you send me an application for admission to do graduate work at Cornell?

No. Please contact the Graduate School Admissions Office.

About funding

Does the Einaudi Center have any funding available for students?

The Mario Einaudi Center has several funding opportunities for students at the graduate level. The Center administers the Fulbright Fellowship in the Fall and awards its own Travel Grants in the Spring. Other fellowships are handled by specific Programs. Please check the website of the appropriate Program for further information. You may also visit the funding section of this site.

Where can I get an application for a Fulbright Fellowship and when is the deadline?

Applications for the Fulbright Fellowship are available at the Mario Einaudi Center beginning May 1 each year for the following year’s competition. The application deadline is usually the last week in September. For further information, please contact Brigid Shipman at bms2@cornell.edu.

Who can advise me about my Fulbright proposal?

Professor Emeritus Gil Levine is the Fulbright Advisor at the Center. He can be reached via email at fulbright@is.cornell.edu.

Where can I get funding to travel to a conference where I am presenting my research?

Travel funding for conferences is handled through the Graduate School. You can contact them by phone at (607) 255-4884.

Do you have travel grants for students to do summer research in the United States or Canada?

Travel to Canada is considered in the annual Travel Grant competition. We do not fund travel within the United States.

The Area Studies Programs and Peace Studies Program have a commitment to community outreach as well as to their academic and cultural offerings on campus. Several do maintain their own speakers’ lists. We encourage you to contact the Program that represents the topic or area of the world you are interested in. Please see the Programs section.
