Visiting Fellows/Scholars-in-residence
Academics in government, business, academia, and the arts who are working on Europe are regularly affiliated with the CIES as Visiting Fellows/Scholars-in-residence for terms ranging from one month to a year. The Institute does not provide financial compensation. Foreign nationals must maintain valid visa status to be eligible.
Individuals interested in obtaining an appointment as a Visiting Fellow or Scholar-in-Residence must have a Cornell faculty member serve as their sponsor. Cornell faculty may send nominations for prospective individuals to the Cornell Institute for European Studies at European_studies@cornell.edu.
Because our visitorships are designed to facilitate collaborations between Cornell faculty and individuals not normally affiliated with the university, we ask that the recommendation describe the nature of the collaboration, how the affiliation with Cornell enhances this collaboration, and why an affiliated with CIES is preferred to one with a discipline-based department.
