Building on Cornell’s long-standing strengths in European Studies and outreach, the Institute for European Studies was awarded approximately $100,000 by the European Union Commission as part of the “Getting to Know Europe” competition honoring the EU’s 50th anniversary. This grant enabled IES to launch a series of activities during 2007, including workshops, visiting European experts, cultural events and a town twinning that will focus the attention of Ithaca area residents on the European Union and commemorate the EU’s 50th anniversary.
