    SERIES OVERVIEW

The Cornell East Asia Series (CEAS) is published and subsidized by the East Asia Program of Cornell University. CEAS produces scholarly monographs, translations of literature and major works of literary criticism or social analysis, specialized textbooks, and well-integrated volumes of articles on important subjects dealing with the cultures of China (both the PRC and Taiwan), Japan, Korea (both north and south) and Vietnam. The books are regularly reviewed in scholarly journals. We publish up to ten new titles per year, with over ninety volumes currently in print. Our goal is to publish high-quality works at reasonable prices and to keep works in print as long as there is moderate interest. The books are published in both paperback and hardcover editions. To assure high quality manuscripts are reviewed by both internal (usually Cornell faculty) and external examiners. Authors are invited to submit camera-ready copy that meets CEAS guidelines and no royalties are given.
CEAS encourages the use of illustrations in our books and accompanying video, CDs, or other appropriate materials. We will consider proposals for electronic publication.

  • POLICIES

    Examination Copy

Examination copies are available to instructors with a $7.00 shipping and handling charge, prepaid by check or money order, or call with your credit card number. Please limit your request to two titles. If you are interested in multiple titles, please contact the CEAS editorial office for possible discount. We ask that you do not use exam copy requests in lieu of purchasing books at regular prices.

    Desk Copy

Desk copies are available upon request with orders of 10 or more copies per title, provided the instructor has not previously received a copy of the requested book. We require confirmation from the bookstore carrying the volume prior to shipping the desk copy. This usually takes the form of a purchase order or notification from the bookstore that the order will be placed.

    Standing Order
As each new title is released, a quote will be sent to those on standing order. Standing order customers may then either return the quote with payment to the CEAS Distribution office, or simply disregard the quote if the title isn't wanted. To be placed on standing order for new titles, please send your request to CEASBOOKS at orderbook@cupserv.org. Please include your organization's name, address, phone number, fax number, and contact person.
