Adventures in Chinese Culture: A Teacher's Introduction
The East Asia Program will host an afternoon workshop for elementary and middle school teachers introducing them to our new web-based curriculum on Chinese culture for 3rd and 6th grades, Adventures in Chinese Culture: The Monkey King’s Guide. The workshop will be led by Julie Kulik, one of the authors of the curriculum, and Todd Crawford, social studies teacher at Boynton Middle School in Ithaca. Beijing Opera: Tradition, Techniques & Characters
Ghaffar Pourazar and members of the company will lead a workshop that introduces the history of Beijing Opera, and demonstrates its musical forms, theatrical techniques, and the four main character types of the drama. The workshop will be held on October 25 at 2 pm in the Todd Theatre on the University of Rochester campus. It is open to all K-12 teachers, as well as students at the U. of Rochester and the Eastman School of Music.
