Scholarships available to students of Dutch at Cornell University
FLAS for Graduate students

The FLAS scholarship is granted during the Spring semester. Graduate students of any discipline, who are taking Dutch courses for their research are eligible for this scholarship.
Only American Citizens can apply.
Students are strongly advised to discuss their course load with the Director(s) of the Institute for European Studies before handing in their application.
AANS (American Association for Netherlandic Studies) Scholarship

The AANS is offering one grant of $2,000 in support of graduate research in the field of Netherlandic studies, to be conducted in the Netherlands or Belgium, during the next academic year. Under exceptional circumstances, an additional scholarship may be awarded. The field of Netherlandic studies is broadly defined and includes research on aspects of Dutch culture as they relate to Indonesia or South Africa, or research on the Afrikaans language. The grant is intended for citizens or residents of the United States who study at an American university. Preference is given to those scholars who do not receive support from their home institutions. Applicants must submit a proposal of at least two pages, a timetable, a budget, two letters of recommendation, a curriculum vitae, and a set of transcripts. The proposal should establish the scholarly contribution and significance of the project, its relevance to the applicant's professional goals, and progress already made. The MARTIJN ZWART PRIJS
is an annual stipend granted at the end of the academic year to deserving CORNELL students of Dutch language and Culture, who are going to work and/or study in The Netherlands or another location where Dutch is the predominant language.
The NEDERKLANKEN Sights and Sounds

This site offers the student of Dutch Sounds and Sights of the formation of the sounds of the language. Its aim is to encourage the students to approach the sounds as closely as possible for pronunciation, corrsct stress as well as intonation. The listening skills of the students will be sharpend simultaneously.
