Project Title:
Theory and Analysis of Contemporary Music
Project Abstract:
In my doctoral program I am working on renowned composer Chaya Czernowin's technique and my dissertation focus is on analysis of her music. Related to my studies at, I have been accepted to Theory 402a: Theory and Analysis of Contemporary Music course in Paris, an event organized in collaboration with ManiFeste IRCAM.  A small group of advance students from US music schools led by Professor Robert Hasegawa from McGill University, are going to meet for the seminars while participating at the events at ManiFeste. The course subject is techniques and works in recent music, differing from the available seminar topics at Cornell University. In addition, as one of the three principle composers of ManiFeste this year, Professor Czernowin's works are going to be broadly discussed and analyzed. As a result of the course, I am aiming to achieve both an advance technique of contemporary music analysis in addition to further develop my comprehension of Professor Czernowin’s technique, and greatly benefit in regards to the continuation of my studies at Cornell University.
