CAPS students and faculty attended China's National Day Reception at the Chinese embassy
Posted on: 9/30/20099 CAPS juniors, who are studying at the Cornell Center in the fall semester, attended the Reception for the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China at the Chinese embassy on September 29. Dr. Richard Bush, Dr. Xu Xin, and visiting Chinese lecturer Fan Xiaoling joined them at this event, the first diplomatic function for this CAPS Class of 2011. After listening to the toasts by Ambassador Zhou, Under Secretary of State Robert Hormats, USTR Ron Kirk, and Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Micheal Mullen, the students were enjoying the bountiful delicious Chinese food and chatting around with VIPs in the grand hall of the recently-built, artsy embassy building, a impressive architecture designed by world-renowned Chinese American architect I. M. Pei.
