Jeff MacCorkle gives practical tips about how to develop a career in China

Posted on: 9/17/2009   Archived on: 10/31/2009 On September 17, 2009, Jeff MacCorkle, a Cornell alumnus and a China hand who has more than 20 years of work experience in China, gives a seminar to the CAPS seniors at Peking University (Beida). This is the first seminar in CAPS career-related seminars at Beida. Jeff MacCorkle is currently Vice President in Booz Allen Hamilton's China consulting practice and a leading consultant in the area of strategy and corporate finance in China. He has been in management consulting with leading global companies since 1993 and since 2001 has been working at the Chairman/CEO level in China's largest State owned enterprises, including Air China, Petro China, Sinopec, China Coal, China Communication Construction Corp, Unicom, etc. His talk focuses on how to build a career in China and practical tips for finding an opportunity in this environment.

Reconnected the Cornell network in Beijing

Posted on: 8/31/2009   Archived on: 10/31/2009 The Cornell Club of Beijing hosted its first event of the fall of 2009 on Tuesday, September 1 on the patio at Xiu Bar in the CBD. max Klein and Justin Orr, CAPS '08 who work in Beijing, played the leadership role in organizing this event. Max Rothkopf and Andrew Ham, also CAPS '08 working in Beijing, and 16 CAPS seniors (Class of 2010), who spend the fall semester in the School of International Studies at Beida, participated in this reception. Joined them were also CAPS faculty, Dr. Xu Xin, Ms. Duan Hong, and Ms. Hao Mingming, and a great number of Cornell alum in Beijing. Laura Stone, the U.S. Embassy’s Chief of the Domestic Economics and Finance Unit and a Cornellian gave a short talk on U.S.-China economic relations. The event was very successful. As Jeff MacCorkle, a Cornellian and experienced China hand who has been working in China for more than 20 years, said, "CAPS is doing a great job dominating the Cornell events!"
