FUNDING DEADLINE-Mario Einaudi Graduate Fellowship |
|
| The Einaudi Foundation of Turin, Italy, named this fellowship in honor of Cornell Professor Emeritus Mario Einaudi, who died in May 1994. The Mario Einaudi Fellowship alternates between young Cornellians and Italian scholars: thus Cornellians may apply every other year. The Fellowship will be awarded on a competitive basis to a candidate whose research reflects a commitment to Mario Einaudi's goal of interpreting the United States to Europe and Europe to the United States. The competition is open to Cornell advanced graduate students in the social sciences, history and philosophy who plan to spend an academic year in Europe, preferably but not necessarily in Italy. The award is currently set at approximately $25,000: this amount is designed to cover a further semester for write-up of research results either in Europe or the United States for pre-doctoral candidates. Pre-doctoral candidates must have completed the "A" exam in their department, or have an exam date scheduled prior to departure, and have a dissertation project approved by their special committee. | |
