Alumni Survey
Why a Survey?
- To strengthen our position with the U. S. Department of Education as a Title VI National Resource Center (NRC). This competitive grant provides SEAP significant funds ($17.5 million since 1954) for area studies and language instruction, fellowship support and perhaps most importantly over $34,000 annually for SE Asian library acquisitions. We must be able to demonstrate that our alumni are in strategic employment positions here and abroad.
- To encourage camaraderie and connections between SEAP’s alumni, faculty, and current students. We want to be able to help you stay in contact with fellow SEAP alumni whether you are pursuing an academic concern or staying in touch with old friends. You may also want to sign up for the SEAP list serve to receive the weekly e-newsletter containing information about upcoming SEAP events including lectures, conferences, and performances, as well as event information and deadlines beyond SEAP.
- To maintain and build the e-Mentor and FAR programs. The e-Mentor program matches individual SEAP students with an alumni mentor to discuss topics such as career paths and field work. The FAR (Faculty Associates in Research) program allows SEAP to forge collaborative relationships with Southeast Asian specialists at educational institutions in the greater New York region. We facilitate FAR members’ access to the SEA resources at Cornell, while they add to the vitality of the program by becoming part of the wider SEAP community.
