Overview
The depth, variety, and originality of Southeast Asia-related courses make Cornell an ideal place to study Southeast Asia. From the introductory "History of Southeast Asia" to more focused courses such as "Water: Art and Politics in Southeast Asia" and independent reading courses with individual faculty, students of Southeast Asia never lack a selection of great courses to take.
More than 140 Southeast Asia related courses are offered at Cornell, and more than one hundred are taught by faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences (Anthropology, Art History, Asian Studies, Government, History, Music, Economics, and Linguistics). 109 of the 143 Southeast Asia-related area courses offered at Cornell are taught by faculty in the college of Arts and Sciences (Anthropology, Art History, Asian Studies, Government, History, Music, Economics, and Linguistics).

Students who come to Cornell with a prior background in Southeast Asian Studies have a wide variety of more specific courses to choose from (at the 400-level and above in the course catalog).
