THE SOUTHEAST ASIA PROGRAM (SEAP)
at Cornell, is designated as a NATIONAL RESOURCE CENTER (NRC) by the United States Department of Education 2006 – 2010. As such, the Program is nationally prominent in promoting advanced foreign language training, area and international knowledge in the liberal arts and applied discipline focused on Southeast Asia. SEAP successfully trains undergraduate and graduate students who distinguish themselves in universities, area study centers, businesses, banks, foundations, governments and multinational agencies both in the US and abroad. It offers outreach to regional K-12 and Post-secondary schools/teachers and is known for its academic publications focused on the region.
The Southeast Asia Program's academic journal, “Indonesia”, has received an A* in the Australian government's recent rating of academic journals, conducted by the Australian Research Council. This is the top rating possible, and only 5 percent of the world's journals under consideration received such a high mark. We would like to thank all the contributors and editors of “Indonesia” -in particular Benedict Anderson, James Siegel, Joshua Barker, Takashi Shiraishi, and Audrey Kahin-for their support..
