OUTREACH

Meena, from Afghanistan, spoke for the Cornell South Asia Program to over 400 rural school district K-2 students and teachers about the culture, dress, and food of her homeland. At an after school program she read to the Philips Library "Rockin' Readers" and in the evening spoke at the Phillips Library to an audience of 51 people, this included 25 Elementary, Intermediate and High School Teachers from the Homer, NY School system as part of their continuing education teacher training.

SUCCESSFUL "EDUCATION IN ASIA" NYCAS'09 TEACHERS WORKSHOP
The workshop had over 30 participants from around central NYS learning about Asian education systems from the classroom perspective in China, India, Japan, & Indonesia as well as looking at the challenges facing the students and educators, and finally, how to teach students from these cultures in NYS classrooms.
