Video Lending Library
The Cornell Institute for European Studies offers a lending library of 144 feature films and documentaries on Europe. If you are a teacher, faculty or student in the U.S. or Canada you can borrow these materials for educational purposes at no charge for up to three weeks. Your only expense is return shipping. We ask you to insure the items for $100 (provided free by UPS.)
You can find the materials you need by searching our database. You can search by media type, educational level, or country. Via keyword you can search for a title, director, or producer. Nearly all of our videos are in VHS format, but as our library grows we will be adding more DVDs.
Once you have found the item you want, fill out the on-line check out form. We will ship the item within one week. All requests must include an educational institution affiliation, a current address and phone number. If you are a teacher we prefer to ship directly to your school. We reserve the right to deny borrowing privileges when identifying information is inadequate. A charge of $100 will be assessed for items not returned to IES.
Cornell faculty and students can pick up items at our office, 120 Uris Hall, Monday-Thursday between the hours of 8:00am-4:30pm, Friday between the hours of 8:00am-3:30pm within two business days of submitting a request.
We are constantly expanding our collection. If you do not find what you are looking for, or you want to recommend an item for our collection, please send us an email with the information and the reasons you think we should acquire it.
