Michele Sicca Research Grant Recipients for 2008

Rosa Angelova (Human Biology; Dept. of Nutritional Sciences) was awarded a grant to conduct research in Bulgaria. Her project focuses on “An Exploratory Study of Changes in Ideal Body Image, Fitness Beliefs and Eating Behavior Among Adolescents and Young Adults in the Course of Transition from a Post-Communist To Market Society in Bulgaria.”
Upik Djalins (Development Sociology) was awarded a grant to conduct research in the Netherlands. Her project will explore “Making Customary Land Rights: Colonizers and Colonized as Producers of Knowledge in the Dutch East Indies.”
Lena Hipp (Organizational Behavior, ILR) was awarded a grant to conduct research in Germany. Her project will delve into “Trusting Choices – How Parents Choose Childcare. A Comparative Study of Germany and the U.S.”
Emily Kelley (History of Art) was awarded a grant to conduct research in Spain and England. Her project is titled “The Piety of the Merchant Patron: Two Carved Alterpieces from Early Sixteenth Century Burgos.”
A. Timothy Pyper (Music) was awarded a grant to conduct research in England. His project it titled “Towards a Reconstruction of Romantic Performance Practice on the English Organ.”
Juan David Sierra (Comparative Literature) was awarded a grant to conduct research in England. His project will investigate “Literature as Sovereign: A Comparative Analysis of 14th and 15th Century English and Spanish Manuscript Culture.”
Maite Tapia (International and Comparative Labor, ILR) was awarded a grant to conduct research in England. Her project concentrates on “Friend or Foe: Community Organizing and Trade Unionism, Evidence from the UK.”.
