K-12 Educator

Teacher Grant for Developing a Curriculum Unit on Europe

Four grants of $1000 are available in 2010. This grant is open to upstate New York teachers of grades K-12 from all subject areas, including but not limited to social studies, foreign languages, language arts, math and science. The curriculum unit must focus primarily on Europe. First priority will be given to applicants who have not previously received a Teacher Grant award from CIES, though all educators are encouraged to apply.

Funds will be disbursed as professional service fees (teacher compensation) for time and materials required to research and develop a curriculum unit on Europe. Successful candidates will be paid in two installments of $500.   The first installment will be presented at the project start and the second upon receipt of the curriculum unit on or before August 15.

Teachers Travel Grant

A limited number of grants of no more than $400 will be awarded to upstate New York K-12 educators who focus on some aspect of Europe in their curriculum and wish to attend a related workshop or conference during academic year 2009-2010. The funds will underwrite the travel costs associated with the selected projects.  Payment will be made by reimbursement upon completion of the trip.  Funds must be used during the academic year awarded or they will be forfeited.
