Eurosim 2007
On April 12-15, 2007 a representation from Cornell University participated in the European Union simulation, held at Canisius College in Buffalo, NY. This year’s topic was energy policy and students from universities across New York and Europe took the positions of European decision makers, including members of the Commission, the European Parliament and representatives of national governments, to tackle the difficult task of drafting a resolution to curb green-house emissions and contribute to sustainable economic growth in Europe – no easy task, at which they succeeded.
The simulation was preceded by a 2-credit course taught by a Government department graduate student, Lucia Antalova Seybert, in which the Eurosim participants researched individual country positions on energy policy, and weighed the options available in EU’s unique institutional context.
