Water-Sharing and Culture in the Mediterranean

The interdisciplinary Mediterranean Water Group at Cornell has been actively involved in teaching and researching the water crisis in areas of the Mediterranean for the last two years.
The conference gathered a number of Mediterranean and local water experts, students and Fellows from the Society for the Humanities, who pulled their research into the present crisis of water and discussed a strategy for future action and research in the area. The focus of the meeting was the role of culture in addressing the crisis of water in the area.
Keynote Speaker
Maude Barlow is one of the most prominent figures in the water crisis movement. A senior advisor to the United Nations, she is the recipient of the Lannan Cultural Freedom Award, and author of many books including Blue Covenant: The Global Water Crisis and the Coming Battle for the Right to Water.
