Languages
We regard as an essential element of Mediterranean Studies the teaching of as many of the region’s languages as possible. We have been successful in keeping Modern Greek and Turkish alive at Cornell. Kostas Yiavis is teaching elementary and intermediate Modern Greek through the Classics Department. Elementary Turkish is offered through Near Eastern Studies, while intermediate Turkish is being offered as a distance learning course through Syracuse University.
